Spring is right around the corner and now is the time to start planning ways to spruce up your home.
Whether you are planning on selling, or just want to one up the neighbors, there are several things you can do to get your home ready for spring.
How does your front door look
Weather beaten and tired? Time to make it look bright and new. Your front door is the focal point and what people notice. Give it a coat of paint to make it pop. A bright color, such as red or yellow, can help your property stand out. Add other bright accents too. If you have a front porch, add a colorful bench or set of chairs.
How easy is it for your home to be identified or located
This one is a safety issue so pay attention. If the numbers identifying your home are small or hard to see, update them with bold, larger new ones. If someone called 911 the police, fire or rescue squad needs to be able to see them easily. Consider putting a set on your mailbox as well. Speaking of the mailbox, consider painting it a bright color as well. That adds to the pops of color, but also gives whomever calls for help something else to tell the first responders to look for, i.e. “look for the red mailbox.”
Clean your driveway and walkways, and repair any cracks. This is for safety too, but mostly a spruce up. If you’re not sure how to clean both, hire a professional who knows how to best clean your type of driveway and walk.
Don’t forget your gardens and landscaping
This is another area to add color. Choose flowers and plants that will provide color and complement your home. If you’re new to gardening consult with your local garden center for the best plants for your soil types, colors and amount of time you want to put into upkeep.
