Pressure washing is a great way to clean different things. Things like your deck, driveways and sidewalks and even in Clearwater, Florida, where stucco block homes are the norm, your stucco block home! In fact, power washing is a great way to keep your home looking its best.
Stucco is a textured exterior house treatment
Pressure washing is a great way to clean off all of that dirt and grime. One word of caution; do a good inspection before pressure washing to make sure there aren’t any cracks in the stucco. If there are, water can be forced behind the stucco and cause damage to your home. Take a few minutes to fill cracks and chips and let that dry before power washing.
Do pressure washing in sections
When pressure washing your stucco block home, do the washing in sections. Use the pressure washer to apply the detergent solution to a section, then move to the next letting the first section sit. You might want to wet it first, then apply the detergent since the stucco will absorb some water.
If there is an area of the wall that is really dirty, use a scrub brush as well. Some power washers have a rotating scrub brush attachment that will use the detergent, water pressure and brush all at once.
Rinse at a 45 degree angle
Then go back and rinse each section, top to bottom, at a 45 degree angle. Keep in mind that stucco can sometimes crumble a bit, so use a moderate pressure, not a high pressure. Also keep the nozzle at least 24 inches away from the surface.
Best idea: hire a professional
If you are worried about getting it right, then hire a professional to do it for you. They will have the expertise to get the job done right the first time without damaging your stucco surface.
