When painting the interior or exterior of your home is an item on your home maintenance checklist, you have two options: do it yourself or hire a professional painter.
I’m not suggesting that you have to hire a professional; painting is fortunately something that offers a large margin for error. If you mess it up (barring serious spillage on the carpet!) you can pretty much paint over any disaster. There are also many tools on the market that make the job a bit easier. Even paint has come a long way; you can’t beat latex for clean-up.
Painting also allows you to effect a fairly inexpensive renovation on a room. Other than knocking out walls and reconfiguring your home’s layout, color is the great transformer.
But if you do decide to hire a professional painter in Clearwater, just make sure it is someone licensed and insured. Horror stories abound about homeowners that figured they would save a few bucks and hire a local guy who totes rollers and cans around in his truck along with a few boxes of business cards printed at Kinko’s.
You’re saving money on the labor because this guy doesn’t pay premiums that exist to protect you in case something in your home gets damaged. Or even worse…the guy falls off the ladder and smack into your glass coffee table. It has happened.
Forgive the drama, but we live in a litigious society. So get a good referral from someone you know, get the license number, and check it out on your state’s professional licensing site. You’ll save a lot more than a couple of bucks.
