Many people will advise that home maintenance plans are a waste of money. They could be right if you are buying those upsells on each appliance or job done. However a comprehensive home maintenance plan will save you money in the long run.
So why a home maintenance plan?
Well, a single item plan covers just that item. For instance, if your washing machine breaks, the plan covers the washing machine. Without it you’d have to pay to have it fixed or buy a new one. Great, right? Well sure, if that’s the only thing that is damaged when the washer broke. Often that isn’t the case.
Repairs and replacement costs
So let’s say that when the washer broke it was full of water and laundry. The thing that breaks is the inner tub or the drain line. All that water ends up all over your floors. You can clean it up, right? Sure! The problem is that the water gets under the floors, into the drywall and causes mold and mildew. Now you have a serious flood damage problem that will cost you thousands of dollars to fix. Mold remediation alone is thousands of dollars, then you have to add in new drywall, paint, flooring and so on. The plan on your washer isn’t going to cover all of that.
Comprehensive care plan
A comprehensive care plan will. That plan will cover small items like one appliance or large ones, like flood damage from the broken washer. Cheaping out and not going comprehensive will cost you a lot in the long run. Don’t single plan it or opt not to purchase a comprehensive coverage plan. Your bank account will thank you!
